EWWW Image Optimizer

How Flying Pigs' output compares with EWWW Image Optimizer's, at Flying Pigs' default settings:

• JPEG: at JPG quality 82, the files come out about the same size as EWWW's Pro Plus level.
• WebP: at quality 75, effort 3, the WebP files come out about the same size as EWWW's Basic level.

Using the two together

Flying Pigs' uploads land already optimized, and they are kept away from EWWW's on-upload optimization, so they are not compressed twice. EWWW's bulk optimizer can still recompress them later if you run it, so leave it alone for files Flying Pigs uploaded.

If EWWW's WebP delivery is on, Flying Pigs' Delivery panel sees it and leaves EWWW in charge. The WebP copies Flying Pigs writes use the standard photo.jpg.webp name that EWWW serves.

Behind Cloudflare, EWWW needs its JavaScript or <picture> rewriting switched on before browsers receive the WebP copies. Pro's WebP only avoids the question: the uploads are WebP and are served as they are.
